Polyamide 66 (PA66)
Product Features
●Excellent mechanical properties. Nylon has high mechanical strength and good toughness.
●Self-lubricating and good wear resistance. Nylon has excellent self-lubrication and a low coefficient of friction, resulting in a long service life as a transmission component.
●Good elasticity and fatigue resistance, capable of withstanding tens of thousands of double flexures.
●Excellent corrosion resistance, mold-resistant, not afraid of pests, has alkaline resistance, but not resistant to acids and oxidants.
●Good dyeing performance.
●Relative density is low, only 1.04-1.14, making it the lightest among fibers except for polyolefin fibers.
Product Applications
Automotive Industry
Due to the excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, strength, and ease of processing of nylon 66, it has been widely used in the automotive industry. It can now be used in almost all parts of the car, such as engine parts, electrical parts, and body parts. Engine parts include the intake system and fuel system, such as engine cylinder head covers, throttle bodies, air filter housings, automotive air horns, automotive air conditioning hoses, cooling fans and their housings, water pipes, brake fluid tanks and caps, etc. Body parts include components such as car fenders, rearview mirror brackets, bumpers, dashboards, luggage racks, car door handles, wiper brackets, seat belt buckles, and various interior decorative parts. In terms of in-car electronics, it includes electric windows, connectors, storage boxes, cable ties, etc.
Mechanical Equipment
Door handles for passenger trains, coupling discs for freight car brakes, etc., can be made from PA66. Other items such as insulating washers, baffle seats, turbines on ships, propeller shafts, screw propellers, sliding bearings, etc., can also be made from PA66. High-impact nylon 66 can also be used to make pipe wrenches, plastic molds, radio-controlled car bodies, etc. Non-reinforced nylon 66 is typically used to manufacture low creep, non-corrosive nuts, bolts, screws, nozzles, etc.; reinforced nylon 66 is used to produce chains, conveyor belts, fan blades, gears, impellers, and scaffolding foot clamps.
Other Industries
◆Utilizing the creep resistance and solvent resistance of PA66, a range of daily necessities can be manufactured, such as gas lighters and aerosol nozzles molded from non-toughened nylon 66, sunglasses lenses, combs, buttons, etc. Toughened nylon 66 is used to manufacture cold-resistant and wear-resistant products such as ice skates, ski parts, tennis racket strings, and windsurfing connectors. Glass fiber reinforced toughened nylon 66 is used in the production of bicycle wheels, knife handles, and gun stocks.
◆In the furniture industry, nylon 66 is often used to manufacture connectors, decorations, drawer rollers, sliding tracks, etc. Additionally, many utensils are directly made from nylon 66, such as gears, fan blades, sewing machine cams, washing machine feet, and some gasoline-powered machines, such as lawnmowers. In the military, bayonet sheaths, confidential document covers, and cartridge belts, etc.
◆In the construction industry, PA66 is used to make escalator railings, automatic door crossbars, window frames, door pulleys, etc.
◆In the packaging industry, PA66 can be used to make films and multilayer films, containers for baked foods, etc. PA66 films have low oxygen permeability, preventing the oxidation and deterioration of contents, and have excellent oil resistance and low-temperature impact resistance, making them suitable for packaging foods such as meat, ham, and shrimp, with promising market development prospects.
